for procrastinators like myself, we always find need beginnings. like a new calendar year to say this is when i will start …. or a new quarter … then new second half of the year. or just a new week a new month.
of cause the more frequent the period (example a new week) the less impact psychologically. so a good one will be one that is less frequent like Jan 1st.
am reaching a new beginning soon. chronologically. my birthday. birthday is like Jan 1st, once a year. it signifies the number of years i have been alive and thus in a way more significant as a mark of a new beginning compared to the new year.
this year … another significance is that it is going to be my 35th birthday. why you may ask this is significant. well in the gay/female world, 35 seems to mark the before after age. or should i say the after age. after 35 you belong to the mature old group together with the 40s and 50s. the start of being an uncle (although i have been one for over 10 years already).
if you go to some chat rooms, look at some entertainment competition (like model search, star search) 35 is a significant and commonly used age limit.
so while typing this … i asked myself … did i let my 30 to 34 years go by without achieving much or doing what i want. those were important years too. or was it spent lamenting my lost youth of 20 to 29.
well i may have to face it and no more think of myself as a spring chicken, but i think 35 to 39 can be very fun years. especially these are the years where i can potentially still train to be fit, have strong financial stability (if i dont screw it up with my shopping addiction) and ability to enjoy life.
recently i went for my full medical and did all the battery of test and quite surprisingly i was given a pretty clean bill of health. it does feel like a fresh beginning. one of healthy lifestyle but also fun and fulfillment.
of course this is partly also thanks to Dr Randy Pausch’s last lecture. a lecturer in Carnegie Mellon University, he was diagnosed with cancer and given only a few months left to live. he gave a last lecture in the university, hoping his children (3 very young boys) will see it one day and gain from it. it is one emotional inspiring lecture that has been watched over 6 million times on youtube as well as on oprah winfrey show. check it out at his homepage here.
Exercise regimen: I normally work out three times a week. In the gym, I avoid machines and use mostly free weights.
As I do not want to get too bulky, I focus on more repetitions with lighter weights instead of trying to use the heaviest weights I can. I also play soccer to get my cardio fix.
Diet: I have a weakness for pasta. My favourite meat is chicken. While I love fried chicken, I try to avoid it as much as possible. I drink lots of milk and get extra fibre through vegetable juices.
“Going topless is always a sure way to attract attention. This summer’s must-have fashion accessory is the topless flipflop – a sandal with no straps and no apparent way of staying on your foot. The secret is the tacky water-based glue that keeps the foamy sole in place but does not come off on skin. Invented in the U.S. and made in China, they have already proved a hit in Australia and Canada, where thousands of pairs have been sold. I want to buy one!” likecool
Exercise regimen: I hit the gym
three times a week. I do incremental resistance training, usually five
sets of six to eight bursts, on the various stations. At the end of
every session, I do 500 crunches and 100 leg-raises to strengthen my
lower abs and leg muscles. In addition, I do rock-climbing four times a
week. I also jog at least 10km twice a week.
Diet: Milk is a must for
breakfast to aid my recovery from strenuous exercises. I usually have
biscuits to go with it. I maintain my optimum condition by eating bread
with chicken breasts.
When I go to the gym, I eat till I am about 70 per cent full. Occasionally, I give in to my craving for beef steak.
not having a very good day today. suddenly in the late afternoon lots of users (from different companies and different jobs) email me with technical problems. if it is clear cut problems or emails with sufficient infomation i am ok. but is like vague problems and it just suddenly appear when nobody made any change to the system.
any case was feeling rather frastrated until i saw this photo. WOW took my breath away.
helped cool me down. or transfered my energy and imagination elsewhere.
i went to the gym yesterday and measured my height. it was closer to what i thot was my height all along. 177cm. that is a big difference from 180cm. i really think the measure at the hospital was wrong. well so at least i was tall for a few days.
i think what is more exciting is iphone 2.0 and the app store with all the new games. frankly i might still get the new phone but really besides 3G which isnt all that fast, and GPS which i am not too keen on if it does not have offline maps, the new iphone has little difference.
below is a video of one new game coming for iphone. very similar to locoroco for psp. loved that game. except i thot it made more sense to have the accelerometer working for the game. cause i was rotating my locoroco psp while playing it even if it didnt have any effect.
